A 45-min. summary of degrowth (or at least my attempt at it)
I was kindly invited by Richard Steed to a pilot episode of a podcast he’s working on (“Not Dead Yet”), to talk about degrowth and socio-ecological justice. The episode is now out:

Among other things, we talked about the main principles of degrowth, why it is urgently needed, and how things could be different in a hashtag#postgrowth world. If the economy decreases in size, will this lead to a lowered quality of life, or to an improvement in well-being? Does everything need to “degrow”? How can we ensure a just transition away from capitalism? What about the countries in the Global South? And what practical actions can one take to become part of degrowth and allied movements?
I am just a newcomer to this field, so I am thankful to some of the leading voices in degrowth scholarship (Jason Hickel, Matthias Schmelzer, Julia Steinberger, Giorgos Kallis, Kohei Saito and Ekaterina Chertkovskaya, among many others) who - through their books, articles, podcasts and conversations - taught me a lot of what I talk about in this video. Any errors or misinterpretations are entirely my own!
